Dr. Shanele Vaughn is a double board-certified physician specializing in interventional pain management and neurology at Insight Chicago’s departments of neurology and pain management. Prior to joining Insight, Dr. Vaughn was employed with Advocate Medical Group and practiced interventional pain management, neurophysiology, and pain management. Dr. Vaughn uses her diverse background to integrate electrodiagnostics with interventional and non-interventional pain management techniques to diagnose and treat a wide variety of painful conditions. These include peripheral neuropathy, headaches, and chronic pelvic, neck, and back pain.
Dr. Vaughn received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She went on to complete residency training in neurology at the University of Chicago, followed by fellowship training in neurophysiology at the University of Chicago. Dr. Vaughn then completed a second fellowship in interventional pain management at New York University within the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Vaughn is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with board certifications in neurology and pain medicine. Additionally, she is board-eligible in clinical neurophysiology.
Dr. Vaughn is a native of Chicago, where she lives with her husband and children. She enjoys all things summer in Chicago and interior design.
Dr. Rasha Jabri is an American Board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician with over 15 years of experience in the field of pain medicine. She completed her anesthesiology residency at Loyola University in 2003 and her Pain Medicine fellowship at Northwestern University in 2004. Dr. Jabri held several positions throughout her career before joining Insight Chicago Medical Center. She served as a full-time anesthesiologist and pain physician at Northwestern University as an assistant professor. Additionally, she was the chief of pain medicine at Tawam Hospital in affiliation with Johns Hopkins International in the UAE. During her time at Tawam Hospital, she established the first comprehensive multidisciplinary pain management program and pain clinic in the city of Al Ain. She published about back pain disorders in major pain text books and journals. Dr. Jabri has a great passion for quality and patient safety improvement. She obtained training, degrees, and certificates in quality improvement and patient safety. Dr. Jabri provides patient and family-centered compassionate care, and she strives to support patients manage their pain through pain interventions.
Dr. Salman Sagarwala is a double-board certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician who serves as the medical director of pain management at Insight Hospital & Medical Center Chicago. His philosophy places an emphasis on preventing pain from becoming persistent and working towards improving functionality and quality of life through a collaborative and compassionate patient-centered approach.
He emphasizes trying to manage pain without relying on opioid medications and instead using a multi-disciplinary approach involving psychologists, physical therapists, and complementary/integrative modalities. In addition to traditional treatments, Dr. Sagarwala has extensive training in the most advanced, innovative, and minimally invasive techniques to provide his patients long-term durable results. In his spare time he enjoys playing piano, traveling, and spending quality time with his wife and dog.
