Chicago, IL – December 19, 2024 – Yesterday, Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), and the Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB) announced the selection of 13 organizations statewide to receive funding through the groundbreaking Healthcare Transformation Capital Investment Grant Program. This $200 million initiative aims to address health-related social needs and reduce disparities in healthcare within historically underserved communities.

Among the awardees are Insight Hospital & Medical Center Chicago and the SBEV Chicago Impact Center, which will receive a combined $22 million to fund a state-of-the-art medical facility on Chicago’s Southside and the renovation of the new headquarters for the Impact Center.

This transformative investment includes:

  • A 30,000-square-foot urgent care and primary care medical facility offering clinics, medical office space, and expanded healthcare access.
  • The rehabilitation of the former Corpus Christi Church in Washington Park into a community hub featuring afterschool programs, community services and wellness programs.

The grant is part of the State’s commitment to supporting safety-net hospitals and medical centers, which provide essential medical care to patients regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
