Dr. Rany Aburashed

Dr. Rany Aburashed is the Corporate Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Sub-Specialty Services at Insight. Dr. Aburashed completed his undergraduate studies in psychology and world religion at Albion College, graduating with honors. He received the Michigan Medical Grant to attend Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his doctorate in 2006. After completing his neurology residency, Dr. Aburashed served as the chief resident at Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital.

Following his education, Dr. Aburashed went on to be the founder of Memorial Healthcare’s Institute for Neurosciences and Multiple Sclerosis. Before joining Insight’s executive leadership team, Dr. Aburashed previously served as the Chair of Neurology and Chair of specialty services at Memorial Healthcare.

He has extensive research experience in the neuroimmunology space, serving as primary investigator on over 30 phase 1-4 clinical trials. In addition to this, he is best known for his work using single molecule array assay technology to assess protein biomarkers in multiple sclerosis patients. Dr. Aburashed’s primary research interest is in precision disease management using neurofilament light and biomarker profiles to better understand treatment effects in multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Aburashed has been featured on CNN, Nasdaq, Yahoo News, and multiple other news outlets regarding his clinical expertise and lectures both nationally and internationally on his work.

Taofik Nasrat, MD

Dr. Taofik Nasrat is a board-certified neurologist at Insight. Dr. Nasrat specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of neurological conditions and disorders, including seizure, stroke, dementia, headache, neuropathy, and muscle disorders. Dr. Nasrat graduated from Tripoli University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship training at Wayne State University, where he received the Best Resident Teacher honor. Prior to joining Insight, Dr. Nasrat worked as a neurologist at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois and at Zawia School of Medicine in Zawia, Libya. He has also been published in numerous medical journals and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Nasrat is passionate about creating an open, safe, and supportive environment for his patients, and is currently accepting new patients at our Dearborn and Warren locations.

Dr. Rasha Jabri

Dr. Rasha Jabri is an American Board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician with over 15 years of experience in the field of pain medicine. She completed her anesthesiology residency at Loyola University in 2003 and her Pain Medicine fellowship at Northwestern University in 2004.

Dr. Jabri held several positions throughout her career before joining Insight Chicago Medical Center. She served as a full-time anesthesiologist and pain physician at Northwestern University as an assistant professor. Additionally, she was the chief of pain medicine at Tawam Hospital in affiliation with Johns Hopkins International in the UAE. During her time at Tawam Hospital, she established the first comprehensive multidisciplinary pain management program and pain clinic in the city of Al Ain. She published about back pain disorders in major pain text books and journals.

Dr. Jabri has a great passion for quality and patient safety improvement. She obtained training, degrees, and certificates in quality improvement and patient safety. Dr. Jabri provides patient and family-centered compassionate care, and she strives to support patients manage their pain through pain interventions.

Dr. Salman Sagarwala

Dr. Salman Sagarwala is a double-board certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician who serves as the medical director of pain management at Insight Hospital & Medical Center Chicago. His philosophy places an emphasis on preventing pain from becoming persistent and working towards improving functionality and quality of life through a collaborative and compassionate patient-centered approach.

He emphasizes trying to manage pain without relying on opioid medications and instead using a multi-disciplinary approach involving psychologists, physical therapists, and complementary/integrative modalities. In addition to traditional treatments, Dr. Sagarwala has extensive training in the most advanced, innovative, and minimally invasive techniques to provide his patients long-term durable results. In his spare time he enjoys playing piano, traveling, and spending quality time with his wife and dog.

Dr. Ahmad Elakil

Dr. Ahmad Elakil, M.D., MBA, FRCSC is the chief of neurosurgery at Insight Hospital and medical center. He is a board certified neurosurgeon.He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Calgary in Canada, followed by a neurosurgical-oncology postgraduate training at the University of Miami. During his residency, Dr. Elakil completed his Masters of Business Administration at Cornell University. He was awarded the Social Butterfly Award that year.

Dr. Elakil uses minimally invasive neurosurgery, a state-of-the-art procedure, to provide his patients with the best outcome and shorter recovery time. He specializes in treating tumors, neck pain, lower back pain, and spine surgery.

Dr. Elakil was cited in many prestigious national and international neurosurgical journals. He was awarded more than twenty awards in national and international neurosurgical meetings. Dr. Elakil is committed to using his expertise in neurosurgery to provide concise, compassionate, and effective care to his patients.
