Welcome to our Emergency Medicine Residency Program! It is my privilege to introduce you to a program that is more than just a place to train-it is a home and community where you will grow as a person, clinician, leader, and advocate for your patients and colleagues alike. Our residency is based in a historic, academic, urban safety net hospital at the heart of Chicago. Here, you will be immersed in a rich and diverse environment, caring for patients who reflect the full spectrum of humanity. This setting provides unparalleled opportunities to learn, innovate, and make a lasting impact. To put it simply, this is a program and place where I would choose to train in a heartbeat! As your Program Director, I want you to know I care about YOU- you as a person, and you as a physician.
As a visionary in emergency medicine and medical education, I’m thrilled to bring my entrepreneurial spirit to this residency program at Insight Chicago, located in one of the city’s most historic hospitals. I bring a passion for building not only a residency program but also the future of Emergency Medicine. My approach combines traditional, high-expectation teaching methods with a progressive emphasis on wellness, resilience, and individuality. I believe excellence is achieved through clarity, structure, and hard work, but also through creativity, compassion, and prioritizing your health, your patients, and each other.
Our program is designed to challenge you, inspire you, and prepare you for the complexities of emergency care. You will be supported by a phenomenal team of faculty and staff in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Graduate Medical Education. Together, we are committed to your success and will provide the mentorship and resources you need to thrive.

Born and raised in Chicago, I graduated from Mother McAuley High School, where I played water polo and swam competitively. I continued my education and athletic career at St. Francis College in New York. My time as a student-athlete instilled in me a deep sense of discipline and a passion for supporting growth and development, values I carry into my work every day.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, trying new sushi spots, and savoring great coffee. I look forward to welcoming you to our program and helping you on your journey in Emergency Medicine.

ERAS
- Please view the ERAS/AAMC website for specific dates for this year (https://www.aamc.org/services/eras-for-institutions/medical-schools/timeline).
Insight-EM Specific:
- We typically start reviewing applications October 1st, and look to send our first wave of interview invitations by the middle of October. It is a rolling process from then on until the end of our interview season.
- We typically have 10 interview dates, all on Mondays and Wednesdays, from November through January.
Specifically for the 2024-2025 application cycle we will be offering interviews only if granted ACGME accreditation in January 2025.

Program diversity is crucial to training Emergency Medicine physicians, and it is imperative to healthcare in general. The IHMCC Emergency Department is comprised of a diverse body of faculty representing the spectrum of gender, ethnicity, age, religion, expertise, and background.
IHMCC supports diversity in the hope of encouraging physician satisfaction and wellbeing. The Medical Executive Committee at IHMCC has formed a Physician Diversity and Well-being Committee tasked with the goal of establishing Continuing Medical Education (CME) on recognizing the importance of diversity and wellness. In addition, the Medical Staff hosts programs on professionalism, recognition of our biases and will participate in Physician feedback symposiums. These programs provide the medical staff with tools for self-reflection and to how their colleagues perceive circumstances and situations differently.

Welcome to the Insight Chicago Emergency Medicine residency program. We are thrilled to share our program with you. At Insight Chicago, you will receive excellence in training and Emergency Medicine with a group of faculty who are eager and committed to teach.
PGY1
PGY-1 Orientation Week
At Insight Emergency Medicine, we recognize the importance of a strong foundation as you begin your journey in residency. Our comprehensive one-week orientation marks the start of the PGY-1 year, designed to ensure you feel prepared, supported, and confident as you step into your role in the emergency department.
What to Expect:
- Team-Based Learning
Engage in interactive sessions that provide essential knowledge to prepare you for a successful introduction to the ED. These exercises focus on equipping you with the clinical and procedural basics necessary for early success in emergency medicine. - Team Building & Social Integration
Strengthen connections within your class and with faculty through collaborative activities and social events. We aim to foster an environment of camaraderie, support, and mutual growth, ensuring you feel part of the Insight EM family. - Emergency Department Shifts
Gain first hand exposure to our training environment with supervised ED shifts. These initial experiences provide a valuable opportunity to familiarize yourself with the department’s dynamics and workflow while applying your foundational skills.
Orientation Week is more than an introduction; it’s the first step in shaping your success and creating lasting bonds that will define your residency experience.

Specialty Tracks
At this time we are in the process of developing specialty tracks.
ED Staffing
During residency, you will work one on one with an attending EM physician. The ER is staffed 24 hours with board-certified/eligible Emergency Medicine physicians.
ED Metrics
Insight Chicago Hospital sees an annual volume of 35,000 patients in the ER.
Pediatrics and Specialty Training
Being ready to care for a sick child is incredibly important as an emergency physician. Our residency seeks to achieve excellence and pediatric training by incorporating both longitude ER rotations, as well as dedicated pediatric rotations. With training at University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s hospital and some of the leading pediatrics centers you will be well trained with the numbers and acuity of pediatrics patients during your residency.

Fellowships

Curriculum
